Your Leadership Style
Recall from Chapter 6, one of the four managerial functions is Leading. The textbook described three common leadership styles: autocratic, participative, and laissez-faire. Each has its own distinct qualities related to authority over subordinates. Perhaps you can identify your leadership style simply by reviewing the characteristics of each, or there are numerous leadership style assessments on the web you can take to validate your assumption.
For this assignment, please take the leadership style assessment offered by the Your Leadership Legacy website. Click on the link below and a separate window will open to the site. After reading the passage on the page, begin the 'leadership legacy assessment test' in green print. It contains 30 questions and then you will submit for a response page.
The test gives scores in six categories: ambassador, advocate, people mover, truth-seeker, creative builder, experienced guide. Review the results revealed about you in each category.
(NOTE: the link may give a warning that verification cannot be run and/or site is not secured. I have used this site many, many times without incident. I am confident you can bypass the warning safely.)

In a Word document,
- copy and paste your scores of the six categories (not the entire page of paragraphs for each category)
- in separate paragraphs, write a brief summary about each of the six categories as presented to you (2-3 sentences each)
- write a concluding paragraph (6-8 sentences) expressing whether you agree or disagree with your results and explain; support your conclusion with examples of your assumed leadership style
The assessment should not take more than 20 minutes to complete and your supporting report should be about a full page in length. This is not an MLA style paper and paragraphs may be single spaced.
Due in this forum before leaving class today, Tuesday, March 4 at 12:15 p.m.
